HATSINGIMARI, August 01: The South Salmara Mankachar district saw a protest on Monday against the steep rise in prices of essential commodities in front of the office of the Hatsingimari district collector.

Led by former MLA from Mankachar constituency, Matiur Rahman Mondal, hundreds of Congress workers assembled with placards in hand, voicing their dissent and raising anti-government slogans in opposition to the state government. The protestors expressed their concerns over the escalating prices of essential food items, including medicines, diesel, petrol, gas cylinders, vehicles, rice, flour, onions, lentils and potatoes.

The recent imposition of additional GST on these items further exacerbated the hardships faced by the common people. He emphasized the need for urgent government intervention to control the escalating costs of essential commodities, as it directly affects the basic livelihood and sustenance of the people.

The protest served as a platform for the Congress party to demand accountability from the government and to express solidarity with the citizens facing economic hardships due to the surge in prices. The demonstration of public discontent underscores the urgency of finding viable solutions to address the economic challenges faced by the people of Hatsingimari at large. The rising prices of essential commodities have become a matter of grave concern, leading to widespread unrest among the citizens. The demand for immediate government action to reduce the price hike and ease the burden on the public resonates with the sentiments of many in the region.
